Austin High School ’21
IUPUI ’25
Finishing off the series, MSV decided to touch base with Logan Kelly at IUPUI and get some words of wisdom from a sophomore swimmer. Two years in, Logan still has the same passion for the sport that made him want to swim in college to begin with.
He finds the training at a D1 school significantly more challenging than in high school. Ten to twelve hours a week in the pool has been replaced with twenty-hour practice weeks. He is a lot closer with his teammates now though which makes the increased training easier to handle. The support from his teammates is one of the things he loves the most.
With so much time dedicated to swimming, balancing academics with swimming and a social life seems tricky, but according to Logan, you find a way to get into a routine and make it all work. The travel for championship meets is what makes it the most challenging.
A year in, Logan has found a way to make it all work and is enjoying the total experience of swimming at a D1 school, dropping time, and working towards his degree in computer science. He also has mastered the post practice power nap. Great work Logan!
