Minnetonka Swim Club’s Allie Maxwell had the honor of being selected to be a coach at the Central Zone Select Camp this May in Cleveland, OH. Allie was kind enough to share a little about her experience with Minnesota Swim and Vibe
My time at the 2023 Central Zone Select Camp was added to the many great experiences of my coaching career thus far. It took place at Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio over Memorial Weekend.
It brought me back to the college life, staying in the dorms while walking back and forth building to building. Most of the time took place in the Busbey Natatorium (pool) with two practices as day along with meals and classroom activities in between. USA Swimming gave Goal Setting, Confidence and Nutrition presentations as well as bringing in a USA Junior National team member. It was fun to see her swim!
The 56 talented athletes; boys and girls, ages 13 to 14 filled the pool from Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Missouri. The atmosphere was great and amazing; creating relationships from the coaching staff to the swimmers.
