Listen up folks. It’s time to not just view, but do. Megan Van Berkom is goin into her senior year at the University of Minnesota. She competed last week at the Phillips 66 Senior National Champions, swam like a rock star, and qualified to represent the United States at the World University Games.
AMAZING, BUT…To go compete at this meet, Megan needs a little help. She has started a GoFundMe page in hopes to get the financial support needed to attend. She’s raised $2000 so far and has $3000 to go.
Here’s where the power of a swim community can really show it’s impact. There are 17 college programs, over 50 clubs and over 260 high school programs. My St. Olaf math tells me that’s a ton of swimmers in this state. If we can get just a small percentage of those families to donate a little…$5, $10…Megan will be on her way to China to represent us well.
I had a chance to talk to University of Minnesota Director of Swimming, Kelly Kremer about Megan. Kelly said “She is a model student athlete, teammate, and person”. I know the squad is super proud that she will be representing them at these games.
Do your part folks. Giving a little bit from a lot of people to support one of our own is a small ask.
