2023 Winter Junior Nationals – Day One

Day one was limited in the events with timed finals for the 200 Medley Relay and 800 Free Relay

200 Medley Relay
The highlight of the evening was the Aquajets A relay in on the men’s side, placing second with a blistering time of 1:27.52, just 0.11 behind first place Lakeside. Luke Logue lead off with a 22.25 backstroke leg, followed by Jack Hacker who split a 24.53 breaststroke. Micah Davis took over in the fly with a split of 21.14 and Connor Hogan brought it home with a 19.60 free split.
The South Metro Storm team of Ethan Kosin (23.06), Cooper Krance (25.66), Grady Evenson (22.08), and Victor Trinh (20.66) placed 19th with a time of 1:31.46.
The Aquajets B relay featuring Nathan Carr (24.16), Isidore Warain (25.86), Drew Ploof (22,17), and Henry Webb (20.51) finished in 24th with a time of 1:32.70.

On the women’s side, the only Minnesota relay was fielded by the Aquajets. The team of Annabelle Wentzel (26.02), Grace Rabb (28.29), Carly Bixby (24.77), and Libby Bakker (23.22) placed 12th with a total time of 1:42.20

800 Free Relay
Only one relay in this event between the men and women and it was the Aquajets men’s squad that placed 7th with a time of 6:35.09 Micah Davis was lead off with a 1:39.18 followed by Jiarui Xue (1:38.40), Drew Ploof (1:39.50), and anchored by Henry Webb (1:38.01)
