Section 5A Recognition Spotlight – Paxton VanEps, Isaac Just, Mauricio Obregon-Ibanez, William Coler and Carter Pew (Morris Area)

from Coach Michelle Just

Stepping up….

With the loss of 4 seniors last year, the coaching staff wasn’t sure what this year was going to look like in terms of filling spots on our Free relays and competitiveness within the section.  Senior Paxton VanEps, Juniors Isaac Just and Mauricio Obregon-Ibanez along with 9th grade William Coler have stepped up and filled in the question marks with exclamation points!

Paxton VanEps, our only senior this year, has improved in all areas of swimming.  His leadership and hard work in the pool have made him an asset to this relay.  We will miss his leadership next year.

Isaac Just has worked hard in and out of the pool this year.  His commitment to being better has helped him establish the anchor position in both of our free relays.  This work ethic will help him find success in and out of the pool.

Mauricio Obregon-Ibanez is a go-with-the-flow kind of person.  He knows when to dial up the intensity to help his team out.  He is a swimmer who is good at including everyone and helping out younger swimmers.

William Coler, with his tall stature, makes swimming look easy.  As a 9th grader, William is ready to work hard and push himself to become better.  He has stepped up this year to fill some important roles on the team.

Another team member who has stepped up is our Diver Carter Pew.  In the last year, he has mastered some difficult dives.  He has high expectations for the remainder of this year and next.

I am excited to see more successes and what the rest of the season will look like for these gentlemen.

Boys, this is a great story about what high school swimming is about. Teammates move on and new ones step up and follow in their footsteps. Minnesota Swim and Vibe would like to join your coaches in recognizing your accomplishments and representation of your squad. Vibe on boys!!
