Stepping up….
At the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season, Robbinsdale Armstrong and Robbinsdale Cooper were two separate teams. Each team had selected their three captains for the 2023-2024 season. Over the summer, the decision was made for the two teams to become a cooperative program. To respect the captain selection that happened prior to the merger, we have three captains representing our co-op from each school during the regular season.
Though it is untraditional to have six captains, doing so has been fantastic in our first year as a co-op in bringing the two programs together. The captains have done a stellar job of leading the team and representing their school district. Will Francis, (12), Christopher Callen (12), and Charlie Kujak (11) from Robbinsdale Armstrong and Elliott Voigt (11), Andrew Brooks (11), and Rowan Tierney (12) from Robbinsdale Cooper all agree that this first season as a cooperative program has gone better than expected.
There were concerns regarding how well everyone would get along and how the season would turn out compared to previous ones. Despite these concerns, the team quickly became tight-knit thanks to the efforts of our captains. Their motivation, leadership skills, and love for swimming and diving has helped with the team having a blast at practice and at meets. They are glad to be the first group of athletes to represent Armstrong-Cooper and are excited for the seasons to come. Thank you, captains!
Great jobs captains! You don’t have to be a captain to be a leader, but if you are a captain, you better be! Minnesota Swim and vibe would like to join your coaches in recognizing all the leadership you have provided to your blended swim fam this season. Vibe on boys!!
