LEAD AGE GROUP COACH
Position Summary
The Lead Age Group Coach will lead two to three lower-level groups and assist with multiple other groups in our program. Our Lead Age Group Coach is responsible for working with the Head Coach in all coaching related activities, developing and sustaining a successful program with a strong emphasis in skill development, sportsmanship and teamwork. Provides feedback, execution and direction during swim practices and swim meets and interacts with parents and athletes in a positive manner. Provides a high level of customer service and ensures a safe program environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to developing young athletes both in and out of the pool. This position offers an exciting opportunity for growth and long-term involvement within our club.
Minimum Qualifications
● High School Diploma or GED.
● Maintain all coaching certifications required by and remain in good standing with USA Swimming & MN Swimming.
● Lifeguard Certification, or the ability to obtain certifications within 30 days.
Preferred Qualifications
● Previous experience working with children.
● Previous youth coaching experience.
Position Responsibilities
● Coaching: Oversees the development of the age group, ensuring alignment with the Head Coach’s vision and the club’s overall objectives.
● Communication: Maintains open and effective communication with parents, swimmers, and the broader coaching staff. Provide regular updates on swimmer’s progress, meet schedules, and other relevant information.
● Goal Setting and Athlete Development: Develop personalized goal-setting plans for swimmers and monitor their progress, focusing on both short-term and long-term goals.
● Administrative Duties: Assists with administrative tasks related to the age group, such as attendance tracking and performance analysis.
● Be the primary instructional coach with most hours spent on deck coaching and leading.
● Provide supervision and direction of coaching including but not limited to the following:
Assist with expanding the club and retaining current swimmers.
Mentor, guide and serve as a positive role model for Junior Coaching staff.
● Provide an environment that is compliant with all applicable Club, USA Swimming, and MN Swimming regulations, including current Safe Sport policies. Mutual respect should extend to the Coach-Swimmer, Coach-Parent, and Coach-Official relationships. The Lead Age Group Coach should be a model of sportsmanship for swimmers and other groups.

Working Conditions
● Communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.
● Perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting to 15 pounds at a time in a warm or cool pool environment.
