Team Outlook
In 2024, 43 points separated 1st and 3rd in the team standings at sections with Hutchinson coming out on top and scoring a 3rd place finish at the state meet. They will be the favorites in this section in 2025 and will be led by senior Carter Johnson. Johnson was section champion in the 200 and 500 Free and placed 4th in both at the state meet. Fellow senior Anthony Witte also scored well for the Tigersharks last season, placing 4th in the 100 fly and 3rd in the 100 Back. At state, he was 10th and 8th in those events, respectively. Another senior, Eric Oberg will be a strong contributor this season as well. Oberg placed 4th in the 200 IM and 7th in the 100 Free at sections. Senior Breaststroke specialist Grayson O’Neill placed 3rd last year at section in that event and 11th at the state meet. Freshman Leyton Yerks looks to build on his strong 8th grade performances in 2025. Yerks placed 5th in the 200 Free and 2nd in the 500 Free at sections and scored a 9th place finish in the 500 at state.
While Monticello graduated significant points, they still have a strong core of seniors and top ranked diving crew.
