Section Outlook

Orono returns standout senior Graycin Andreen, who dominated with 1st-place finishes in the 200 Free and 100 Fly, placing 1st and 2nd at state. Senior Lola Schottler won the 500 Free (4th state) and took 3rd in the 200 Free (5th state). Sophomore Ainsley Francis placed 6th in both the 200 and 500 Free, earning 11th and 13th at state. Sophomore Sophie Berg was 3rd in the 200 IM and 100 Fly, finishing 8th and 6th at state. Sophomore Shelby Sloneker was 10th in the IM and 5th in the 100 Back. Freshman Audrey Crawford took 4th in the 100 Free and 3rd in the 100 Back, placing 14th and 9th at state. Senior Celia Howard contributed with 7th in the 100 Free and 6th in the 100 Breaststroke. Senior Sofie Dyvik placed 6th in the 50 Free and 11th in the 100 Free. Senior Kaleigh Francis added an 8th-place finish in diving.

Delano returns a strong core including senior Kaia Georges, who swept the sprint events by winning both the 50 and 100 Freestyle, finishing 9th and 10th at state, respectively. Sophomore Emma Ristau was right behind, taking 2nd in both races and placing 12th and 6th at state. Sophomore Sadie Rosenow scored twice, placing 7th in the 200 IM and 100 Butterfly, while junior Layla Noll rounded out the scoring with an 8th-place finish in the 100 Backstroke. Senior Mylie Pinoniemi added diving depth with a 6th-place showing on the board.

Mound Westonka-Holy Family boasts one of the most complete returning rosters. Junior Laney Hendrickson placed 4th in both the 200 and 500 Free, earning 10th and 6th at state. Sophomore Ava Dominguez placed 12th and 7th in those same events. Sophomore Mia Dongoske was 5th in the 200 IM and 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke, placing 15th and 9th at state. Senior Izzy Starr placed 8th in the 200 IM and 6th in the 100 Free. Junior Rachel Betts added 9th in the IM and 4th in Breaststroke. Senior Erica Johnson led diving with a 1st-place finish and 6th at state. Junior Jaylen Juras added 8th in the 100 Fly and 12th in the 100 Back.

Hutchinson returns eighth grader Julia Rudebusch, who placed 7th in the 200 Freestyle and 9th in the 100 Free. Junior Nora Mach was 8th in the 50 Free, while senior Aubree Schwanz and freshman Marsha Martig scored in diving, finishing 7th and 9th respectively. Sophomore Makaila Wakefield placed 13th in the 500 Free and 4th in the 100 Backstroke, and Martig returned to finish 7th in the 100 Breaststroke.

Marshall High School brings back freshman Finley Pelz, who placed 8th in the 200 Free and 5th in the 500 Free, earning a 12th-place state finish in the latter. Senior Autumn Deutz was consistent across events with a 5th-place finish in the 50 Free and 4th on the diving board.

Montevideo is led by senior Elizabeth O’Malley, who placed 5th in diving and 12th in the 100 Breaststroke.

Watertown-Mayer will be led by junior Sophia Danielson, who placed 9th in the 50 Free and 12th in the 100 Free.

Willmar senior Noelle Becker will be the leading returning point scorer for the Cardinals this season.  Becker placed 14th in the 50 Free and 13th in the 100 Free.

Dassel-Cokato returns a large contingent of younger athletes in 2025. Disa Dahlman is the highest returning point scorer from last year with a 10th place finish in the 50 Free and 16th place finish in the 100 Free

Litchfield relied on their relays for section points last season, but has a strong nucleus of young swimmers looking to make an impact in 2025
