ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College senior TJ Palli (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) was chosen the MIAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for the week ending Oct. 26, the conference announced today. Palli won two individual events and swam on two winning relays to lead the Scots to a victory over Saint John’s in the season opener this past Saturday.
In the individual events, Palli finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.96 and won the 100-yard freestyle in 48.38. The times both rank third in the MIAC so far this season. In the relays, Palli anchored the Scots’ 200-yard medley relay to a win in a time of 1:38.80, then closed the meet and the dual victory by helping Macalester win the 200-yard freestyle in 1:27.87.
This is the first MIAC Swimmer of the Week award for Palli, who swam on school-record teams in the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays.
Macalester’s next meet is at Carleton College on Saturday, Nov. 8 in Northfield, Minn.
