Mustang swimming & diving sweeps double dual at Morningside

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s swimming & diving swept a double dual on Saturday afternoon defeating Morningside and Iowa Lakes Community College inside the Hindman-Hobbs Center.
 
SMSU won nine individual and two team events and set two pool records during the day earning a 168-26 win over Morningside and defeating Iowa Lakes C.C. by a 107-29 score.
 
Lexi Weems set a pool record in winning the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.43.
 
SMSU’s 200-yard freestyle relay of Maddy Storm, Grace Aesoph, Maggie Johnson and Weems set a pool record with a winning time of 1:40.91.
 
Storm won the 50-yard freestyle at 23.91 and was first in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:00.70. Carla Nevi earned first place in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:13.67 and was first in the 100-yard backstroke at 59.81.
 
Savannah Orzech won the 1,000-yard freestyle at 11:31.81 with Aesoph capturing first in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:04.41.
 
Shannon Bailey touched the wall first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:39.46, while Olivia Johnson closed with a time of 1:12.20 to win the 100-yard breaststroke.
 
SMSU’s 200-yard medley relay of Lauren Spencer, Weems, Alana Condezo and Elyanna Dogotch earned a first place time of 1:58.01.
 
SMSU will return to action on Nov. 11 for its first home meet of the season, hosting a double dual versus Jamestown and MSU Moorhead starting at 12 p.m. inside the Don Palm Natatorium.
