MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s swimming & diving team competed in its first double-dual of the season on Saturday losing to Minnesota State, 226-72, and 170-129 to Concordia-St. Paul at the Two Rivers Aquatic Center.
SMSU’s Maddy Storm earned a second place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke closing with a time of 1:10.24 and was second in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:35.13. Teammate Lexi Weems finished second in the 100-yard freestyle at 53.79 and was third in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.54.
Carla Nevi finished third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00, was fourth in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:16.43 and closed in fifth place in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:01.42.
Savannah Orzech picked up a fourth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:35.79, while Ashlynn Dunlop was right behind in fifth place at 5:39.24.
Isabella Bodart touched the wall at 11:39.29 to earn fourth place in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
SMSU’s 400-yard freestyle relay squad of Grace Aesoph, Orzech, Maggie Johnson and Weems finished with a time of 3:43.11 earning second place.
SMSU continues action on Saturday, Oct. 25, competing at the Morningside (Iowa) Triangular.
