ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College senior Izzy Uhlhorn-Thornton (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) was named the MIAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for the week ending Oct. 26, the league announced today. Uhlhorn-Thornton won two individual events and swam on one winning relay team to help the Scots open the 2025-26 season with a victory over Saint Benedict on Saturday.
Swimming her specialty, Uhlhorn-Thornton was first in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.75 and won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:28.47. Both times lead the MIAC so far this season. She is the two-time defending MIAC champion in both events. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Uhlhorn-Thornton helped the Scots win with a time of 1:41.56.
This is the third MIAC Swimmer of the Week award for Uhlhorn-Thornton, who has won four individual MIAC titles, swam on two MIAC-champion relays and is a 10-time All-MIAC performer. She holds two individual school records and is a part of two school record-setting relays.
Macalester returns to the pool on Saturday, Nov. 8 with a meet at Carleton in Northfield, Minn.
