Men’s Swim & Dive Stands in First After Day One of Luther Invite

DECORAH, Iowa – The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s swimming & diving team is competing in the Luther Invitational this weekend.
 
After the opening day of competition on Friday, the Gusties lead the field of seven teams with 499 points.
 
Augustana follows the Gusties in second with 297 points. UW-Whitewater stands in third with 286.
 
Declan Vahey won the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke with times of 1:55.55 and 50.94.
 
Aiden Carlson placed first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:08.79.
 
Ben Kell was the runner-up in the 200 butterfly, placing second in 1:58.52.
 
Logan Cyr took third in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:50.69
 
The Gusties placed first in the 400 medley relay (3:26.03) and third in the 200 freestyle relay (1:25.18).
 
Up next for Gustavus is the second and final day of the Luther Invite on Saturday, November 22.
