Swim and Dive Return to Action Against Morningside University

MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men’s and women’s swim and dive teams will compete in their first meet of 2026 as they travel to Morningside University on Saturday.

The Cougars last competed on Dec. 6, concluding the final day of the three-day Augie Invite. The men finished second, while the women placed sixth. A highlight on the women’s side was McKenna Falak setting a new program record in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:04.92. On the men’s side, three program records were set. Sam Oster recorded times of 2:05.76 in the 200-yard IM and 56.80 in the 100-yard IM, while the team of Ben Caron, John Gulon, Dillon Thorstad, and Ethan Bad Heart Bull set a new record in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:28.91.
 
This will be the second meeting of the season between the Cougars and the Mustangs. On Nov. 22, the women’s team earned a 132–55 victory. In that meet, Falak recorded a first-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle. Additional freestyle wins came from Faith Hamm, Shannon Dougherty, and Rhio Fay. Kennedy Olson and Sam Haaf also captured victories in the 200-yard IM and 100-yard butterfly, respectively.
 
The men’s team fell 125–96 in the first meeting. Bad Heart Bull set a new pool record in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 19:35.41 for the team’s first win of the meet. Caron and Gulon followed with wins in the 200-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle, respectively. Riley McKenzie added a pair of first-place finishes in the one-meter and three-meter dives, while Thorstad secured the team’s final victory in the 100-yard backstroke.
