BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Carleton College men’s swimming & diving program swept the MIAC’s weekly awards, with first-year Erik Sun selected as the swimmer of the week and senior Hans Anderson tabbed as the diver of the week.
This is Sun’s first career weekly honor. He posted new collegiate bests in each of his events at last weekend’s First Chance Meet hosted by the University of Minnesota. He posted a time of 54.25 in the 100-yard backstroke, which ranks eighth in the MIAC this season. He is now 13th in the conference in the 200-yard backstroke after slicing six-plus seconds of his mark as he covered the distance in 2:02.13. Sun smashed his collegiate best in the 200-yard IM (2:04.89), clocked 22.59 in a 50-yard freestyle time trial, and was part of Carleton’s second-place 400-yard freestyle relay (3:19.42).
This is Anderson’s fifth MIAC weekly award this season and the ninth of his career. He won the 3-meter competition at the Dodd Road Diving Invite on Feb. 7. He posted an 11-dive score of 5:04.70, winning the event by nearly 100 points.
The Knights compete at the MIAC Championships to be held Feb. 11-14 at the University of Minnesota’s Jean Freeman Aquatic Center.
