MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Hans Anderson won the 3-meter diving competition for the second consecutive year and the Knights’ 200-yard medley relay added an All-MIAC performance as the Carleton College men’s swimming & diving team sits in second place after Day 1 of the MIAC Championships.
The Knights accumulated 105 points over the three events contested on Wednesday, the 200-yard medley relay, 3-meter diving, and 800-yard freestyle relay.
In diving, Anderson posted a score of 483.55 points during the preliminary round before rallying from behind during the finals en route to a 31-point victory with a score of 448.50. Jesse Lindholm added to Carleton’s point total by placing seventh overall. He collected 316.20 points in the prelims and 290.60 in the finals. Charlie Ruppe became the third Carleton diver to score team points, when he posted a score of 251.30 in the finals.
The swimming portion of the session saw Nicholas Chang, Luke Schmitzer, Warren Kozak, and Neil Tollefson combine on a time of 1:34.24 as they placed third in the 200 medley relay to earn all-conference honors.
The evening concluded with Kozack, Leif Petricka, Schmitzer, and Thor Pearson combining to take fourth in the 800 free relay with a time of 7:00.73. That placement earned the quartet All-MIAC Honorable Mention.
Up Next for the Knights
On Day 2 of the conference meet, Carleton will compete in the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, 50-yard freestyle, and 400-yard medley relay. Prelims begin at 10:30 a.m. with finals slated for a 6:30 p.m. start.
