Knights set a dozen PRs on Day 1 of First Chance Meet

MINNEAPOLIS – The Carleton College women’s swimming & diving team raced on Friday at the First Chance Meet hosted by the University of Minnesota. This unscored competition serves as the final competition of the season for 14 members of the roster that are not expected to compete at next week’s MIAC Championships.
 
Of the Knights’ 22 individual swims, 12 were good for new personal records, while nine others registered as season bests.
 
Alison Trackman posted a career-best time of 5:42.35 in leading three Knights to set PRs in the 500-yard freestyle. Natalie Weissman and Carmen Li both trimmed 10-plus seconds of their previous bests, reaching the wall at 5:47.15 and 6:01.92, respectively.
 
Elizabeth Mayor and Rose Combs established new collegiate bests in the 100-yard backstroke, covering the distance in 1:02.55 and 1:07.66.
 
Eleanor Hebard kept momentum going for the Knights when she reached the wall in the 100-yard breaststroke at a time of 1:12.74.
 
All three Carleton swimmers in the 200-yard butterfly set seasons bests, including Ava Roh, who eclipsed her previous collegiate best by 0.01 when she touched the wall at 2:23.12.
 
Roh, Combs, and Weissman eclipsed another personal best in the next event, the 50-yard freestyle, as they finished at 25.88, 26.24, and 28.50, respectively.
 
Mayor and Lola Taraday improved their previous PRs in the 200-yard IM, covering the distance in 2:22.94 and 2:26.95, respectively.
 
The last race of the day saw Carleton clock a time of 4:37.78 in the 400-yard medley relay.
 
Up Next for the Knights
The meet continues with two sessions on Saturday, with competition starting at 11:00 a.m. and again at 5:00 p.m.
