WEST FARGO, N.D. – The Concordia-St. Paul women’s swimming and diving team opened up day one of the 2025-26 NSIC Swimming and Diving Championships with four swimmers reaching finals and a conference champion to sit sixth in the team standings.
Sophie Leo shined the brightest on day one, becoming a conference champion in the 50-yard freestyle for her first career NSIC title. Not only did Leo become a champion, she broke the school record, hit a career-best time and extended her NCAA B-Cut. She swam a 23.22 in finals and a 23.06 in prelims, after having a previous career-high of 23.57.
Leo became the program’s sixth conference champion and gave the Navy and Gold a strong start to what should be an exciting four days of competition.
Chloe Rihon, Ava Reich and Claire Briest each earned a spot in the 200-Yard IM Finals where they finished 15th, 16th and 17th respectively.
Four relays found themselves in scoring position with the 800-Yard Freestyle of Reich, Lilly Adams, Brooklyn Keney and Sierra Sherry earning the program’s highest finish of the day. They placed sixth with a time of 7:52.88 to earn 34 points.
The Golden Bears will return to the pool tomorrow for day two of the NSIC Championships with races in the 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 free, 400 medley relay and 3-meter diving. Prelims will start at 10 a.m. with finals to follow at 5 p.m, diving will run concurrently with swimming events.
