Men’s Swim and Dive Complete in First Two Days of LACs

RACINE, Wis. – The University of Minnesota Morris men’s swim and dive team finished the first two days of the Liberal Arts Championships in third place with two more days remaining in Racine, Wis.
 
Day 1
The meet started with one event, the 800-yard freestyle relay. The team of John Gulon, Sam Oster, Riley McRoberts, and Ben Caron set a new program record with a time of 7:16.92 to finish third overall. Gulon swam his leg in 1:44.24, setting a new program record in the 200-yard freestyle.
 
Day 2
The following day, the team of Dillon Thorstad, Caron, Austin Dunn, and Gulon set a new program record in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.88. Oster landed on the podium in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:01.28, setting a new program record. Gulon followed up with a fifth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, setting a new school record at 21.25.
 
Riley McKenzie earned a first-place finish for the Cougars in the one-meter dive with a score of 344.15. Minnesota Morris posted another third-place result in the 400-yard medley relay to close out day two, with the team of Gulon, Oster, Dunn, and Thorstad, marking the fifth new record set at the LACs.
 
The Liberal Arts Championships continue tomorrow (Friday) with events starting at 10 a.m.
