Mustang swimming & diving closes NSIC Championships in eighth place

WEST FARGO, N.D. — The final day of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship concluded on Saturday night with Southwest Minnesota State closing the four-day meet with 296 points to finish eighth overall at the 10-team championship held inside the Hulbert Aquatic Center. 
 
Minnesota State won the team championship with 1,166.5 points, while St. Cloud State finished in second place with 780.5 points.
 
Senior Carla Nevi closed her career advancing to the finals of the 200-yard backstroke and earning a fourth-place time of 2:04.86 to earn 15 team points.
 
Lexi Weems competed in the finals of the 100-yard freestyle and finished eighth with a time 56.44 to pick-up 11 points.
 
Maddy Storm earned five team points placing 12th in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:00.96, while also placing 14th in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:28.05 to secure three points.
 
Savannah Orzech recorded a time of 18:26.98 to finish 12th and earn six team points with teammate Kendal Engelker placing 15th at 18:43.95 to pick-up a pair of points.
 
SMSU’s 400-yard freestyle relay team of Grace Aesoph, Storm, Maggie Johnson and Nevi had a seventh-place finish time of 3:35.61 to earn 32 points.
