WEST FARGO, N.D. – The second day of the 2026 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship is complete with Southwest Minnesota State in eighth place at the 10-team championship with 153.
The four-day championship is being hosted by MSU Moorhead and held inside the Hulbert Aquatic Center.
A total of five more event finals took place on Thursday night with Minnesota State extending its lead in the championship with 565.5 points. St. Cloud State is in second place with 384.5 points, followed by Sioux Falls and Augustana in third place with 255 points.
Lexi Weems advanced to the finals of the 200-yard freestyle on Thursday night and placed eighth overall hitting the wall at 1:55.47 to earn SMSU 11 team points.
Grace Aesoph finished 14th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.23 to pick up three team points, while teammate Maggie Johnson finished 16th at 59.95 to earn one point.
Maddie Olafson finished 15th in 3-meter diving with a score of 237.70 to earn SMSU two points.
SMSU’s top 400-yard medley relay squad of Carla Nevi, Maddy Storm, Aesoph and Weems earned 36 points with a strong fifth place time of 3:55.60. SMSU also earned eight points in the event with Emily Quanbeck, Olivia Johnson, Maggie Johnson and Savannah Orzech placing 17th with a time of 4:08.43.
Day three of the championship begins on Friday with prelims at 10 a.m. with the finals beginning at 5 p.m. Friday will feature the 500 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 200 Fly, and 200 Free Relay.
The top three finalists in each individual event and top two finalists in each relay event will be recognized as all-conference during the meet.
