
RACINE, Wis. – The University of Minnesota Morris women’s swim and dive team moved into second place on the final day of the Liberal Arts Championships in Racine, Wis.
Head Coach Dave Molesworth was named Women’s Swim Coach of the Year, and Brynna York was honored as Diver of the Year.
The Cougars placed second overall after sitting in third for the first three days of the meet. Minnesota Morris finished nine points ahead of the third-place team.
The final day began with the 1,650-yard freestyle, where Natalie West placed sixth for UMM. Rhio Fay followed with a third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke, with McKenna Falak right behind her in fourth. In the 100-yard freestyle, Shannon Dougherty earned a third-place finish with a time of 54.82.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, Kaitlyn Mello placed sixth. The Cougars dominated the 200-yard butterfly, taking spots two through five with Sam Haaf, Kennedy Olson, Haidyn Friborg, and Brynn Saarion. York continued to impress, winning the one-meter dive, while Rylie Wendt took second place.
To close out the meet, Fay, Falak, Faith Hamm, and Dougherty finished third in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
