MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s swimming & diving team split a double-dual on Tuesday afternoon inside the Don Palm Natatorium defeating Jamestown, 208-75, while suffering a 159-140 setback to MSU Moorhead.
SMSU earned six individual, and one relay team first-place finishes on the day.
Lexi Weems had a strong meet for the Mustangs winning the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.59), the 50-yard freestyle (24.80) and the 100-yard freestyle (53.98).
Maddy Storm earned first place in the 50-yard breaststroke touching the wall at 31.07 and was second in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:31.55.
Carla Nevi placed first in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:25.78 and was second 50-yard backstroke at 28.35.
Kendal Engelker captured first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:40.1 with teammates Ashlynn Dunlop coming in second at 11:45.45 and Isabelle Bodart in third at 11:51.23.
Grace Aesoph picked up a second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:10.15.
Savannah Orzech finished second behind Nevi in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:35.60, while Maggie Johnson closed at 27.37 in the 50-yard butterfly to earn second place.
Olivia Johnson finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:36.98 and was third in the 400-yard IM at 5:02.59.
The Mustangs’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Storm, Nevi, Maggie Johnson and Weems earned first-place with a time of 3:40.17, finishing just over a second ahead of MSU Moorhead.
SMSU continues home action on Saturday taking on Minnesota State starting at 1 p.m.
