St. Anthony Surges Past Columbia Heights

t. Anthony used strong relay performances and steady scoring across the individual events to pull away from Columbia Heights and secure a 54–30 varsity victory Tuesday night, closing the meet with momentum after several tightly contested races early.

The Huskies struck first in the 200 Medley Relay, as Silas Holtan, Milo Roy, Samuel Sandquist, and Jasper Mann touched first in 1:57.53, immediately setting the tone. Columbia Heights’ A relay finished second in 2:02.33, keeping the meet competitive from the start.

St. Anthony continued to build points in the 200 Freestyle behind Samuel Sandquist, who won in 2:09.09, followed closely by teammate Calvin Belair (2:20.00). Columbia Heights countered with solid swims from Oliver Carter and Simon Carter, but St. Anthony’s depth limited any momentum swing.

The Huskies added another key win in the 200 IM as Jasper Mann claimed first in 2:28.64, while teammate Lincoln Schachtele placed second. Columbia Heights stayed on the board with Josiah Kahle and Juan Brito Ortiz finishing in the top four, but St. Anthony continued to widen the gap.

Sprint speed also favored St. Anthony in the 50 Freestyle, with Milo Roy winning in 25.30 and teammate Michael Green placing third. Columbia Heights’ Martin Reiban Vasquez kept the meet close with a second-place finish (26.95), but St. Anthony maintained control.

Columbia Heights found its biggest highlight of the night on the diving boards, where Martin Reiban Vasquez captured the 1-meter diving win with a score of 95.65, trimming into St. Anthony’s lead.

St. Anthony responded immediately in the butterfly, as Calvin Belair took the 100 Fly in 1:11.68, followed by teammate Azariya Yesuf in second. That one-two finish restored momentum for the Huskies.

The 100 Freestyle brought another win for St. Anthony, with Silas Holtan touching first in 55.86. Columbia Heights countered with Simon Carter and Juan Brito Ortiz scoring behind him, but the Huskies continued to add to their team total.

Distance racing again favored St. Anthony in the 500 Freestyle. Milo Roy earned his second individual win of the night with a time of 5:54.38, while Ethan Peterson added third-place points. Columbia Heights’ Norbu Lama placed second (6:31.93) to keep his team competitive.

Relays provided another swing late in the meet. Columbia Heights grabbed a key win in the 200 Free Relay, as Oliver Carter, Simon Carter, Juan Brito Ortiz, and Norbu Lama touched first in 1:54.62, edging St. Anthony’s A relay by just half a second.

St. Anthony answered decisively in the backstroke, sweeping the top two spots behind Jasper Mann (1:08.30) and Samuel Sandquist (1:12.92), creating one of the largest point swings of the meet.

The Huskies sealed the victory in the breaststroke, where Silas Holtan earned his second individual win in 1:18.08, followed by teammate Lincoln Schachtele in third.

St. Anthony closed the night with another relay win in the 400 Freestyle Relay. The A relay of Jasper Mann, Calvin Belair, Samuel Sandquist, and Milo Roy finished first in 3:54.46, putting an exclamation point on the team victory.
