MINNEAPOLIS – The Carleton College men’s swimming & diving team raced on Friday at the First Chance Meet hosted by the University of Minnesota. This unscored competition serves as the final competition of the season for 9 members of the roster that are not expected to compete at next week’s MIAC Championships.
Of the Knights’ 11 individual swims, eight set new personal bests, while three others were season bests.
Erik Sun and Will Tan both started the weekend off with new personal bests in the 100-yard backstroke, posting times of 54.25 and 56.70, respectively.
Nathan Zhang set a season best in the 100-yard breaststroke with his time of 1:02.15.
Will Clausman posted a season-best swim in the 200-yard butterfly, while Gabe Rose turned in a personal best time of 2:06.37.
Austin Mohr sliced nearly a second off his previous collegiate best in the 50-yard freestyle as he finished at 22.07. James Chen (22.59), Charlie Scott (23.58), and Tommy Harold (24.15) also established new personal bests.
Sun smashed his PR in the 200-yard IM as he reached the wall at 2:04.89.
Carleton concluded Friday’s session with times of 3:46.07 and 3:55.44 in the 400-yard medley relay.
Up Next for the Knights
The meet continues with two sessions on Saturday, with competition starting at 11:00 a.m. and again at 5:00 p.m.
