Mustangs ready for 2026 NSIC Swimming & Diving Championships

MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s swimming & diving team will head to West Fargo, N.D., this week for the four-day, 10-team Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships taking place Wednesday through Saturday at the Hulbert Aquatic Center.
 
The four-day championship will feature swimming prelims taking place each day at 10 a.m. with the finals at 5 p.m. Diving will take place on Thursday and Saturday with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals in the evening with swimming events.
 
SMSU will be competing in its seventh NSIC Championship since reinstating the program in May of 2018. The Mustangs finished seventh for the third straight year at last season’s championship closing with 261 points. SMSU had placed eighth in each of its first three NSIC Championship meet appearances.  
 
Current Mustang senior Carla Nevi earned All-NSIC honors in two events during the 2024 NSIC Championships finishing third in both the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard backstroke. 
 
Natalie Bohnert is the only other Mustang to earn All-NSIC honors in team history earning all-conference honors five times in her career, including the 200-yard backstroke in 2020, 2021 and 2022 and the 100-yard backstroke in 2020 and 2021.
 
Schools competing for the 2026 NSIC championship along with SMSU include defending champion Augustana; Concordia-St. Paul; Jamestown; UMary; Minnesota State; MSU Moorhead; Northern State; St. Cloud State and Sioux Falls.
 
All-conference performers shall consist of the top three place finishers in each event and the members of the top two relay teams.
