ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College senior Izzy Uhlhorn-Thornton (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) was selected the MIAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for the week ending Feb. 8, the league announced today. Uhlhorn-Thornton had three top-8 finishes at the University of Minnesota’s First Chance Meet Friday and Saturday.
Uhlhorn-Thornton placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.82, which is the second-fastest time in the MIAC this season. She also was eighth in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.01. In a time trial, Uhlhorn-Thornton posted a personal-best time of 1:01.50 in the 100-yard individual medley.
This is the second MIAC weekly award this season for Uhlhorn-Thornton, who was named the MIAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 28.
Macalester competes at the MIAC Championships beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the University of Minnesota’s Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
