Austin moves up from 1AA to join this section and to make the room, New Prague will scoot on over to 2AA.

Rochester Century brings back one of the deepest and most dangerous lineups in the section. Grady Bargfrede leads the way after winning the 200 IM and 100 Breast at sections, and William Truskowski adds serious firepower with runner-up finishes in both the IM and 100 Fly (9th at state). Eli Holmes returns as a double finalist and 3rd-place state finisher in the 100 Breast, and also placed 2nd in the 100 Free. Grant Garrison brings distance and backstroke depth with a 4th in the 100 Back and 2nd in the 500 Free (16th at state). Andrew Linden was 2nd in the Back and 4th in the 50 Free (16th at state), giving the Panthers elite sprint potential. The roster rounds out with multiple scorers including James Gilkey (4th in the 200 Free, 4th in the 500 Free), Everett Nord (finalist in Free and Fly), and Aiden Nguyen (5th in the 100 Fly). They also return diving scorer Silas Wagstaff (2nd) and a rising underclassman Jasper Barrone, who made A-finals in both IM and distance events. This roster is arguably the section’s most complete.

Rochester Mayo continues to build on a strong tradition with breakout sprinter William Leasure, who won the 100 Free and was runner-up in the 200 Free as a sophomore (11th at state). The team brings back William Boorjian (7th in the 200 Free, 8th in the 500 Free), and middle-distance threat Nicklaus Gustafson (7th in the 500 Free). Also returning are butterfly specialist Ben Weingarten (4th in the 100 Fly, 5th in the IM), and Matias Vega (8th in Backstroke). While not as deep as Century, this team has podium scorers and youth, which could lead to a surprise title push with continued development.

Lakeville South returns a powerful medley group headlined by Grady Evenson, who was 3rd in the 100 Fly (10th at state) and 1st in the 100 Back (6th at state). Brendan Mattson placed 4th in the 200 IM and 3rd in the 100 Back, giving them valuable scoring in the first two individual events. The Cougars also return rising freshman Aiden Nguyen (5th in the Fly), and a pair of strong divers—Breckin McGill (4th) and Soren Brovald (6th)—along with Matias Silva (8th), forming a very capable diving squad. Grady Bargfrede adds elite talent as a double champion in IM and Breast. Altogether, this team brings excellent event coverage and could challenge for a top-two finish.

Lakeville North’s returning talent is led by Lucas Hoffman, who placed 5th in the 200 Free and 6th in the 100 Free. Kellan Krance returns in the 100 Breast (8th), and Tyler Hultgren placed 7th in the 100 Fly as a freshman. Caleb Baldeshwiler (3rd in diving) also adds strong board scoring. While the team lacks section title threats in individual swimming events, their core group is consistent and could form the foundation for strong relays in 2025.

Farmington returns depth in nearly every event with Hantruy Nguyen (3rd in the 200 Free and 6th in the 500), Eli Montgomery (8th in the 200 Free and 7th in the 100 Free), and Justin Raymond (8th in the IM, 5th in the 500). Adam Moorlach is the top sprinter, placing 3rd in the 50 Free (12th at state) and 4th in the 100 Free (16th at state), while Hudson Maakestad placed 8th in the Fly. Daniel Budde scored 5th in the 100 Back, and the team adds additional freestyle scorers in Tyler West and diving from newcomer depth. This team’s upperclassman core will need relay support to make a podium push.

Owatonna’s top returner is diver Connor McBroom, who placed 7th in the 1m Diving event. He represents the Huskies’ top scoring potential and could push higher in 2025 with improvement on the board.

Austin’s adjustment to Class AA will be aided by the return of Brent Dahl, who won both the 100 Back and 200 IM at the section level, placing 1st and 4th at state respectively. His performances give Austin one of the few returning double event winners in the section. Hunter Peters also returns and contributes important points in the 100 Free and 100 Breast after placing 5th in both events last season.

Section 1A will have a slight change with the section realignments.  Austin has been bumped up to Class AA, leaving 8 teams remaining in the section 

Northfield is loaded with returning firepower. Will Redetzke swept the distance events at sections and was a state champion in the 500 Free and 3rd in the 200 Free. Will Udelhofen was close behind, placing 2nd in the 200 Free (10th at state) and 4th in the 500 Free. James Graham is a top-3 IM swimmer who placed 13th at state, and he also returns strong in the backstroke. Rourke Bennett (4th in Breast, 13th at state), Odin Bergs (4th in the 50 Free and 2nd in the 100 Free, both top 10 at state), and Parker Malecha (finalist in both sprint frees) provide major depth. Underclassmen like John Tracy and Grayson Gray also scored, contributing in distance free and diving respectively.

Winona remains strong with a deep class of underclassmen scorers. Cordel Ruppert placed 3rd in both the 200 and 500 Free (16th and 14th at state respectively), and Owen Ellinghuysen scored top-6 in both the IM and Fly. Carson Prodzinski and Matthew Baumgartner (who placed 3rd in both the 100 Free and 100 Breast, reaching 16th and 10th at state) offer top-tier versatility. Additional scorers include Quinn Wangberg in the 500 Free and Gus Menton in diving, making Winona one of the deeper all-around teams in the section.

Faribault will again rely on diving strength, with Asher Ferris returning as a key contributor after placing 2nd in the section and earning a 6th-place finish at state.

Mankato East brings back a high-powered trio. Elliot Bartell returns as the reigning state champion in the 100 Fly and a 5th-place state finisher in the 50 Free. He’ll be a leading name across all classes in 2025. Elam Asker made noise as a freshman with a 2nd-place finish in the 500 Free (13th at state) and a 7th-place showing in the 200 Free. Hayden Kulas adds more distance depth with a 5th-place section finish in the 500.

Mankato West boasts a large returning group, including Sam Simmons (5th in the 200 IM and 6th in the 100 Breast), Wyatt Bartell (3rd in the 100 Fly and 13th at state), and Kaid Maxwell (6th in the 100 Back). Isaac Sanderson placed 5th in the 200 Free and could push into state qualification range. The team also brings back divers and breaststrokers like Corbin Deichman and Ian Ray to round out a well-balanced roster.

Red Wing features the top diving duo in the section. Zachary Mikkelson won sections and state on the board, and Landen Nelson was 3rd at sections and 11th at state, giving Red Wing massive potential point hauls in diving alone. Elijah Flattum scored in both the 200 Free and 100 Back, and Nick Babcock added a 7th-place finish in the 100 Free, helping round out a competitive lineup.

Simley returns Jaxon Wanek, who placed 6th in the 200 Free and 7th in the 100 Fly, along with Vincent Evangelista (4th in the 200 IM and 5th in the 100 Back), both of whom are likely to move up in placement with another year of experience.

Albert Lea will be looking for some more young athletes to join the squad this season.  Four of their eight athletes from the 2025 section team have graduated.

It really should be a battle between Century and Lakeville North this year. Strong senior class for Century and a core up up and comers from North. Will Julia Ogren do that crazy 1 fly/1 free double again? She handled it spectacularly!

Rochester Century returns a well-rounded and experienced squad led by senior Sophia Blixt, who delivered big postseason performances with a section championship in the 100 Breast and 2nd in the 100 Free at sections. She backed it up at state with an impressive 2nd in the Breast and 8th in the Free. Senior Sarah Homme was a key distance contributor, placing 6th in the 200 Free and 5th in the 500. In the sprints, senior Chloe Magnuson showed her speed with a 4th-place finish in the 50 Free and 6th in the 100 Fly. Seventh-grader Quinn Barrone held her own against older swimmers with a 6th-place result in the 200 IM. In the Fly, senior Addison Kram added more depth with a 7th-place finish. On the boards, juniors Sarah Rutledge and Kendall Langenbrunner placed 5th and 7th in Diving, respectively, while sophomore JiaYin Jian-Gross rounded out the scoring with a 6th-place swim in the 100 Back.

Lakeville North returns a powerhouse lineup with both emerging young stars and seasoned leaders across nearly every discipline. Sophomore Chandler Offerman was a breakout performer, claiming victory in the 200 IM at the section meet and going on to finish 15th at state. She also delivered a strong fourth-place effort in the 100 Breaststroke. Senior Payton Hultgren led the sprint group with a commanding win in the 50 Free and followed it up with a seventh-place finish at state; she also added an eighth-place showing in the 100 Fly. In a display of IM depth, Lakeville North swept key spots with Whitney Szorcsik finishing third and Justine Anderson close behind in fourth, complementing Offerman’s title. Both Szorcsik and Anderson returned for the 100 Breaststroke, placing sixth and eighth respectively to round out a dominant showing in that stroke. Distance events were anchored by sophomore Theresa Anderson, who placed fifth in the 200 Free and surged to second in the 500 Free. Fellow sophomore Adry Sallander added top finishes in both, earning eighth in the 200 and fourth in the 500. Freshman Lauren Colbert also made her mark, touching sixth in the 500 Free and rounding out one of the deepest freestyle contingents in the section.

Lakeville South showcased a deep and well-balanced squad, led by standout junior Taylor Hintz, who claimed second in the 200 Free and went on to place 15th at state. She also dominated the distance field by winning the 500 Free and earning an impressive 11th at state. Sophomore Lily Wilkinson was a versatile contributor, placing fourth in the 200 Free and grabbing third in the 500. Sprinter Adriana Clemon, a senior force, was a double threat—she finished second in the 50 Free and placed 12th at state, then returned in the 100 Fly to claim another second-place finish and a fourth-place showing at state. Junior Hailey Gross added depth in the 100 Fly with an eighth-place finish, while Madison Parent, a sophomore, showed two-way promise by finishing fifth in the 50 Free and taking third in the 100 Back. Finally, junior Gracie Weishaar chipped in a strong seventh-place effort in the 200 IM, giving Lakeville South presence across all strokes and distances.

Farmington returns a balanced group of swimmers with both young talent and upperclassman leadership. Sophomore Mikaela Udell led the way, finishing 3rd in the 200 Free and 4th in the 100 Back. Fellow sophomore Micaela Cardoza added depth with a 7th-place swim in the 200 Free and an 8th in the 100 Back. Senior Taylor Gergen stood out with a 5th-place finish in the 100 Fly and a silver medal in the 100 Breast, where she went on to place 10th at state. Veteran presence came from Abigail Olson, who scored 8th in the 100 Free and also placed 5th in the 100 Back. Rounding out the top performers, senior Parker Risch placed 7th in the 200 IM to cap off a deep and versatile postseason lineup for the Tigers.

Rochester John Marshall brings back a trio of scorers poised to make waves again in 2025. Rising senior Julia Ogren was dominant last postseason, winning the section title in the 100 fly and going on to place 3rd at state. She also sprinted to a 1st-place finish in the 100 free at sections and followed that up with a 4th-place medal at state—one of the top all-around showings in the meet. Classmate Maysen Pettengill, now a senior, contributed with 6th-place section finishes in both the 50 and 100 free. In the breaststroke events, junior Abigail Tri posted a pair of 3rd-place section finishes in the 50 free and 100 breast, showing her versatility and scoring value.

New Prague was led by standout senior Taylor Bassett, who captured the section title in the 200 Free and also placed 3rd in the 100 Free, where she advanced to the state meet and finished 16th. Freshman Aspen Schieffer added young promise to the roster by placing 5th in the 100 Breast, setting the stage for future contributions in the years ahead.

Owatonna will be represented by junior Kate Karsten, who delivered a strong performance in diving with a 3rd-place finish at the section meet. Her top-3 showing on the board highlighted her as a diver to watch next season.

Rochester Mayo returns a strong core of upperclassmen led by standout senior Madeline Gau, who delivered a huge postseason in 2024. She captured the section crown in the 100 back and placed 6th at state, and also added a 3rd-place section swim in the 100 fly, earning 5th at state in that event. Now a junior, Elise Weingarten had a breakout meet of her own, placing 2nd in both the 200 IM and 100 back at sections. She’ll be a major factor again this fall. Fellow junior Emelia Fischer added depth with a 5th-place showing in the 200 IM, giving Mayo a potent medley group to build around in 2025.

Section 1A graduates a slew of athletes which should create some opportunities for those who wish to take advantage of it.

Northfield returns a powerhouse lineup with scoring potential across every discipline. Sophomore Greta Kortuem delivered a standout performance last season, placing 2nd in both the 200 IM and 100 Breast—going on to finish 14th in the breaststroke at state. Fellow sophomore Mae Bowers was equally impactful, finishing 2nd in the 500 Free and 4th in the 100 Breast. Junior Hollis Holden contributed key freestyle points with a 6th-place finish in the 200 Free and 5th in the 100 Free. Sophomore Adeline Lloyd emerged as one of the top flyers in the section with a 2nd-place finish in the 100 Fly, while eighth-grader Violet Connole added depth with a 6th-place finish in the same event. Senior Ella Holleran solidified the backstroke with a 4th-place showing, and sophomore Kasie Larsen rounded out the middle-distance events by placing 5th in the 500 Free.

Winona is anchored by senior standout Abby Williams, who swept her individual events at the section meet with 1st-place finishes in the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke, and went on to earn 5th place in both events at state. Fellow senior Piper Jones was a key contributor in the distance events, placing 4th in both the 200 and 500 Freestyle. Senior Kenley Jacobs added depth in the distance races with a 7th-place showing in the 500 Free, while Erica Beckman rounded out the scoring with an 8th-place finish in the 100 Backstroke.

Austin returns key point-scorers across multiple disciplines. Abbie Boysen contributed with a 5th-place finish in the 200 Free and 8th in the 100 Free. Alivia Hemry added sprint depth with an 8th-place showing in the 50 Free. The team’s standout, Gracie Greenman, had a breakout season—placing 3rd in the 200 IM and finishing 14th at state, while also dominating the 100 Back with a 2nd-place section finish and a silver medal performance at state.

Red Wing features a balanced roster of returning talent. Eliana Cory, a rising junior, had a strong showing with a 3rd-place finish in the 200 Free and a victory in the 500 Free, making her a distance threat once again. Eva Wardle, also a junior, added key depth by placing 8th in the 200 Free and 6th in the 500 Free. Versatile eighth-grader Charlee Jacobson contributed across events with a 7th in the 200 IM and 6th in the 100 Breast, while junior Audrey Larson secured points in the same IM with an 8th-place finish and followed up with a 7th in the 100 Back. On the sprint side, Sienna Yockey delivered a 6th-place effort in the 100 Free as just an eighth-grader. The team’s top postseason highlight came from sophomore diver Kylie Moffett, who placed 3rd at sections and matched that result with an impressive 3rd-place finish at state.

Mankato West returns a strong group of underclassmen ready to make another push. Jordan Woodford was a standout as a freshman, claiming the section title in the 200 Free and finishing runner-up in the 100 Free—establishing herself as one of the top sprinters in 1A. Sophomore Olivia Schultze added to the scoring with a 6th-place finish in the 200 IM, while junior Anna Kapsner showed poise on the boards, placing 5th in Diving. Grace Ward, another promising freshman, rounded out the team’s efforts with a 5th-place finish in the 100 Back.

Mankato East returns a promising trio of scorers who made their mark last season. Seventh-grader Kamille Andresen emerged as a dual threat, placing 4th in the 200 IM and 3rd in the 100 Breast. Sophomore Camryn Schuh added sprint and breaststroke depth with a 7th-place finish in both the 50 Free and 100 Breast. Eighth-grader Brittan Hoffman impressed in both the pool and on the boards, finishing 5th in the 100 Fly and 8th in Diving. Rounding out the crew, sophomore Kelsey Andresen secured 3rd in the 100 Fly and 6th in the 100 Back, showcasing her strength in the middle-distance events.

St. Peter will look to build on a solid postseason showing behind standout sophomore Adela Madson, who placed 5th in the 200 IM and 4th in the 100 Fly—demonstrating strength in both endurance and stroke events. Eighth-grader Kaelyn Loula added speed to the sprints, securing a 5th-place finish in the 50 Free and signaling exciting potential for the years ahead.

Tri-City United is led by returning senior sprint sensation Ella Schmiesing, who swept both freestyle sprints at sections—taking 1st in the 50 and 100 Free—and then delivered on the state stage with a 3rd-place finish in the 50 Free and an outstanding runner-up showing in the 100 Free. Schmiesing’s speed will make her one of the most feared sprinters in the state once again in 2025.

Section 2aa is consistently stacked with all state talent and this year is not different.  Minnetonka will enter the season as defending state champions, but Edina will look to reclaim the title in 2025.

Minnetonka will need to reload after graduating several core contributors from their title run. Even so, the Skippers return a deep and talented group ready to make another postseason push. Senior Lydia Cameron leads the charge after a spectacular postseason in 2024. She placed 2nd in both the 200 Free and 500 Free at sections, then captured 1st and 2nd at the state meet, respectively. Sophomore Claire Wilkey was equally lethal in the sprints, taking 2nd in the 50 Free and 100 Free before posting a 4th- and 5th-place finish at state. Junior Lauren Killelea finished 3rd in the 100 Back and went on to place 9th at state, while Junior Stella Suchy delivered in both the 200 IM and 500 Free, placing 5th and 6th at sections and finishing top-8 at state in both. Junior Brooke Olson added 7th in the 200 IM and 6th in the 100 Fly, scoring a 12th-place finish at state. Junior Annika Graham chipped in with 6th in the 100 Free, and Freshman Vivian Schott impressed with 8th in the 200 Free and 7th in the 500 Free, then followed that with 12th and 15th at state, respectively. Sophomore Claire Friberg contributed with a 7th-place finish in 1m Diving, while Sophomore Keeley Wheeler placed 8th in the 100 Back. Senior Sarah Hurley had a strong postseason showing, placing 4th in both the 200 IM and 100 Fly, and went on to place 6th and 10th at state. Senior Greta Hjelle added depth in the 100 Fly with an 8th-place finish, and Senior Reese Ulett delivered a 6th-place finish in the 100 Breast.

Edina heads into 2025 with plenty of returning firepower across all disciplines and a deep lineup poised to challenge for another top finish in both section and state competition. Sophomore Siggy Nymo starred last postseason with a dominant sweep of the 200 IM and 100 Fly — placing 1st and 2nd at sections and claiming 3rd and 1st at state, respectively. Senior Libbi McCarthy brought elite sprint power, placing 3rd in the 50 Free and 4th in the 100 Free at sections, and backing that up with 2nd-place finishes in both at the state meet. Senior Frances Muir was a distance force, scoring 3rd in the 500 Free at sections and matching that place at state. Sophomore Bobbi Simmons added major points with a pair of 2nd-place section finishes in the 200 IM and 100 Back, and followed those up with a pair of 4th-place finishes at state. Junior Macy Malinski chipped in across both mid-distance freestyle events, placing 5th in the 200 Free and 4th in the 500 Free, before placing 9th and 7th at state in those events, respectively. Outside of the state scorers, Edina still brings plenty of scoring depth. Junior Cat Muir placed 3rd on the diving board, while Junior Grace Hauck added a 4th-place finish in the 100 Breast. Senior Taylor Thompson followed close behind with 5th in that same event, and Sophomore Gwenyth Maclachlan posted a strong 7th-place finish in the 100 Fly.

Shakopee continues to build depth and momentum heading into 2025, returning several key athletes with state and section scoring experience. Junior Lexi Tippie led the way last season with a strong showing in both mid-distance freestyle events — placing 4th in the 200 Free and 3rd in the 100 Free at sections, and going on to score 2nd and 7th at state, respectively. Freshman Miranda Francois made an instant impact in her debut season, claiming the section title in the 100 Breast and securing a 3rd-place finish at state. Sophomore Genessa Sentyrz added versatility to the lineup with a 3rd-place finish in the 100 Fly and 7th in the 100 Back, later scoring 11th and 16th at state. In addition, Senior Maddy Hanson placed 7th in the 100 Breast, and Senior Haylee Quern followed close behind in 8th — providing reliable depth in the breaststroke group.

Prior Lake brings a balanced roster led by standout performers. Junior Charlotte Clark earned 5th in the 1m Diving. Junior Heidi Klaverkamp earned 6th in the 1m Diving. Junior Kaela Haycraft delivered finishes of 8th in the 200 IM and 8th in the 500 Free followed by a 13th at state.

Chanhassen returns a versatile and competitive squad. Junior Abrie Agazzi-Glaze earned 7th in the 100 Free followed by a 14th at state.

Eden Prairie welcomes back a strong mix of talent across grades. Sophomore Olivia Reiser earned 2nd in the 50 Free. Senior Lilia Roberts delivered finishes of 3rd in the 200 IM followed by a 11th at state and 6th in the 100 Back followed by a 15th at state.

Waconia looks to build on last season’s momentum with strong returning talent. Sophomore Ava Pavek earned 1st in the 50 Free.

Chaska will look to continue to add numbers to their squad as they continue the rebuild in 2025.  Senior Sophie Dahl placed 14^th in the 200 IM and 10^th in the 100 Back last season.

Bloomington Jefferson will look to continue to add numbers to their roster and will hope to get some top 16 individual finishes in 2025

Breck will look to once again defend its section title with senior Greta Wilson and junior Amelia Wachs leading the way. Wilson was 2nd in the 50 Free and champion in the 100 Free, later placing 15th at state in the 50. Wachs earned runner-up finishes in both the 200 and 500 Free, placing 10th in the 500 at state. Senior Evelyn Allen chipped in with 3rd place in the 100 Fly and 5th in the 200 IM, while fellow senior Annie Chi notched 4th in the 200 IM and 6th in the 100 Back. Senior Sadie Plut placed 4th in the 100 Free and 5th in the 50 Free. Junior Anna Russ added 4th in the 50 Free and 7th in the 100 Free. Junior Lucy Wissink placed 8th in the 200 Free and 6th in the 500, with classmate Max Vollmer right behind, finishing 7th in both events. Junior Maxine Harrison and sophomore Morgan Wright contributed with 7th and 4th in the 100 Fly, respectively. Freshman Arezou Razmpour made a strong debut with a 7th-place finish in the 50 Free and 10th in the 100 Back, while diver Caroline Rathke rounded out the scoring with a 7th-place finish.

Benilde-St. Margaret’s returns a deep and experienced group led by sophomore Madeline Kirkvold, who placed 4th in the 200 Free and 5th in the 500 Free, and senior Lillian Schilling, who added 5th-place finishes in both the 200 and 100 Free. Eighth-grader Samantha Lamers showed early promise with a 7th-place finish in the 200 IM, while sophomore Carina Gadtke posted solid performances with 6th and 8th in the 200 and 100 Free, respectively. Ninth-grader Celia Schoen made a splash on the boards, earning 2nd place in Diving. Senior Emma Rudowsky powered the team with victories in both the 100 Fly and 500 Free, placing 7th and 3rd respectively at the state meet. Senior Sylvia White chipped in with a pair of 8th-place finishes in the 500 Free and 100 Back, rounding out a balanced and reliable Red Knights squad.

Blake boasts elite talent across strokes and grades. Senior Mercy March was dominant in the 200 IM and 100 Breast, finishing 2nd in both events at sections and capturing 6th place at state in each. Eighth-grader Finley Lorence displayed impressive versatility with a 6th-place finish in the 200 IM and 9th in the 100 Back. Junior Larsen Winternheimer was a force in the 100 Breast, taking 3rd, and also added an 8th-place finish in the 200 IM. Senior Hayden Wert led the way with a win in the 50 Free and a 2nd-place finish in the 100 Free. Seniors Sosie Simon and Chloe Ursu contributed key points with 4th- and 7th-place finishes in Diving. Junior Olivia Besikof added depth with a 6th-place showing in the 100 Fly, rounding out a powerhouse Blake lineup.

Bloomington Kennedy brings back an exciting pair of swimmers in senior Hannah Oliver and sophomore Kaylee Von Ruden. Oliver showed her upperclassman poise with a 10th-place finish in the 200 IM and 5th in the 100 Fly. Von Ruden provided firepower in the sprints, taking 3rd place in both the 100 Free and 100 Back, making her one of the section’s most consistent young scorers.

St. Anthony Village returns a strong mix of youth and experience. Freshman Ferris Martin impressed with a 10th-place finish in the 200 Free and a runner-up finish in the 100 Back, later placing 11th at state. Junior Eloise Martin added to the scoring with a 13th-place finish in the 200 IM and 6th in the 100 Breast. Sophomore Emmie Rengstorf had a breakout performance on the boards, placing 3rd in 1m Diving, while junior Anna Aman followed with a 5th-place finish. Junior Eleanor Pitts showed her range with 9th in the 100 Fly and 5th in the 100 Back, helping St. Anthony remain competitive across the board.

St. Louis Park drops down from Section 6AA and returns several strong athletes who should have a big impact in their new section. Sophomore Maeve McCarren placed 3rd in the 200 IM and 2nd in the 100 Breast last season to lead the way for the Orioles. Junior Adeline Berg placed 6th in the 100 Back, and sophomore Tenzin Choesang took 7th in the 50 Free.

Minneapolis Southwest also joins from Section 6AA and brings several impact swimmers of its own. Senior Erin Prekker was the section champion in both the 200 IM and 100 Breast and later placed 14th at the Class AA state meet in the Breast. Sophomore Evie Rome placed 6th in the 50 Free and 4th in the 100 Free in 2024, while senior Maria Coles notched a 7th-place finish in the 100 Fly.

Fridley loses a couple of their top point scorers from 2024 to graduation and will look to continue to build around their core of youth

It will look quite a bit different with 2024 third place team Hastings moving to Class A and leaving 300+ points up for grabs.  Eastview won their first section title since 2009 last year and looks to hold off Rosemount to make it two in a row.

Apple Valley returns a powerhouse lineup that made waves last postseason. Senior Greta Marcott sprinted to a pair of Section titles in the 50 Free and 100 Free, backing up her dominance with matching 6th-place finishes at the State Meet. Junior Delaney Bell added strength in the stroke events, placing 2nd in the 100 Breast and claiming 16th in the 100 Fly. Senior Ruby Wiegrefe chipped in with a 6th-place finish in the 200 IM, showcasing her all-around ability. Senior Sam Graves and junior Vivian Lenzen round out a deep and experienced group ready to challenge for a top spot.

Burnsville is led by junior Liv Vatafu, who turned in a solid postseason with an 8th-place finish in the 50 Free and a 6th in the grueling 500 Free. Sophomore Madeline Noble contributed with a strong 3rd-place performance in the 100 Breast and added depth with a 13th in the 100 Fly.

Eagan will lean on sophomore Ruby Kaul, who finished 6th in the 200 Free and 8th in the 100 Fly, giving the Wildcats a versatile contributor across both mid-distance and stroke events.

Eastview boasts one of the most complete lineups in the section. Senior Lily Sisson was outstanding last season, taking 2nd in the 200 Free and earning a State berth where she placed 16th. She also won the 500 Free at Sections and followed up with a 14th-place finish at State. Junior Maddie Wentzel was right behind, placing 7th in the 200 Free and 4th in the 500 Free. Junior Frances Anderson delivered in both the 200 IM and 100 Breast, winning the breaststroke event and taking 3rd in the IM. Senior Molly Vogen added depth with a 5th-place finish in the 200 IM and 9th in the 100 Fly. Senior Aimee Birmingham chipped in with a 7th-place finish in the 50 Free and placed 4th in the 100 Back. Senior Halle Jansma contributed on the board with a 4th in diving, while freshman Hazel Richins impressed with a 7th-place swim in the 100 Breast.

Park brings a young core full of promise. Eighth grader Chloe Micek impressed with a 5th-place finish in the 100 Back and added a 16th in the 100 Free. Fellow eighth grader Grace Sahli scored 6th in the 100 Breast, while junior Ruby Igl placed 8th in diving.

Rosemount looks to be a top contender again, led by junior Annika Arlandson, who sprinted to 2nd in the 50 Free and 2nd in the 100 Free, earning a trip to State where she placed 10th. Senior Isla George followed closely with a 3rd-place finish in the 200 Free. Junior Madi Jennen captured the 200 Free title and went on to take 14th at State. Junior Katie Rucci added value with an 8th-place finish in the 200 IM.

Orono returns standout senior Graycin Andreen, who dominated with 1st-place finishes in the 200 Free and 100 Fly, placing 1st and 2nd at state. Senior Lola Schottler won the 500 Free (4th state) and took 3rd in the 200 Free (5th state). Sophomore Ainsley Francis placed 6th in both the 200 and 500 Free, earning 11th and 13th at state. Sophomore Sophie Berg was 3rd in the 200 IM and 100 Fly, finishing 8th and 6th at state. Sophomore Shelby Sloneker was 10th in the IM and 5th in the 100 Back. Freshman Audrey Crawford took 4th in the 100 Free and 3rd in the 100 Back, placing 14th and 9th at state. Senior Celia Howard contributed with 7th in the 100 Free and 6th in the 100 Breaststroke. Senior Sofie Dyvik placed 6th in the 50 Free and 11th in the 100 Free. Senior Kaleigh Francis added an 8th-place finish in diving.

Delano returns a strong core including senior Kaia Georges, who swept the sprint events by winning both the 50 and 100 Freestyle, finishing 9th and 10th at state, respectively. Sophomore Emma Ristau was right behind, taking 2nd in both races and placing 12th and 6th at state. Sophomore Sadie Rosenow scored twice, placing 7th in the 200 IM and 100 Butterfly, while junior Layla Noll rounded out the scoring with an 8th-place finish in the 100 Backstroke. Senior Mylie Pinoniemi added diving depth with a 6th-place showing on the board.

Mound Westonka-Holy Family boasts one of the most complete returning rosters. Junior Laney Hendrickson placed 4th in both the 200 and 500 Free, earning 10th and 6th at state. Sophomore Ava Dominguez placed 12th and 7th in those same events. Sophomore Mia Dongoske was 5th in the 200 IM and 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke, placing 15th and 9th at state. Senior Izzy Starr placed 8th in the 200 IM and 6th in the 100 Free. Junior Rachel Betts added 9th in the IM and 4th in Breaststroke. Senior Erica Johnson led diving with a 1st-place finish and 6th at state. Junior Jaylen Juras added 8th in the 100 Fly and 12th in the 100 Back.

Hutchinson returns eighth grader Julia Rudebusch, who placed 7th in the 200 Freestyle and 9th in the 100 Free. Junior Nora Mach was 8th in the 50 Free, while senior Aubree Schwanz and freshman Marsha Martig scored in diving, finishing 7th and 9th respectively. Sophomore Makaila Wakefield placed 13th in the 500 Free and 4th in the 100 Backstroke, and Martig returned to finish 7th in the 100 Breaststroke.

Marshall High School brings back freshman Finley Pelz, who placed 8th in the 200 Free and 5th in the 500 Free, earning a 12th-place state finish in the latter. Senior Autumn Deutz was consistent across events with a 5th-place finish in the 50 Free and 4th on the diving board.

Montevideo is led by senior Elizabeth O’Malley, who placed 5th in diving and 12th in the 100 Breaststroke.

Watertown-Mayer will be led by junior Sophia Danielson, who placed 9^th in the 50 Free and 12^th in the 100 Free.

Willmar senior Noelle Becker will be the leading returning point scorer for the Cardinals this season.  Becker placed 14^th in the 50 Free and 13^th in the 100 Free.

Dassel-Cokato returns a large contingent of younger athletes in 2025. Disa Dahlman is the highest returning point scorer from last year with a 10th place finish in the 50 Free and 16th place finish in the 100 Free

Litchfield relied on their relays for section points last season, but has a strong nucleus of young swimmers looking to make an impact in 2025

East Ridge features a number of returning contributors who made their mark last postseason. Alyssa Wang, a junior, placed 10th in the 50 Yard Free and later 8th in the 100 Yard Fly. Emma Wood, a junior, placed 1st and 4th at state in the 200 Yard Free and later 2nd and 6th at state in the 500 Yard Free. Irene Lee, a 12th grader, placed 10th in the 50 Yard Free and later 4th in the 100 Yard Back. Logan Havermann, a junior, placed 1st and 1st at state in the 200 Yard IM and later 1st and 1st at state in the 100 Yard Breast. Malea Johnson, a 12th grader, placed 4th in the 200 Yard IM and later 4th and 11th at state in the 100 Yard Breast. Megyn Gillard, a junior, placed 2nd and 14th at state in the 50 Yard Free and later 5th in the 100 Yard Free. Mia Seidl, a junior, placed 4th in the 500 Yard Free and later 8th in the 100 Yard Breast. Olivia McClintock, a freshman, placed 3rd in the 100 Yard Fly and later 5th in the 100 Yard Back. Sabine Keister, a sophomore, placed 8th in the 200 Yard IM and later 2nd in the 100 Yard Fly.

Mounds View returns a well-rounded group with strength across strokes and diving. Ellie Bina, a 12th grader, placed 2nd and 7th at state in the 200 Yard Free and later 1st and 4th at state in the 500 Yard Free. Kamdyn Karel, a 12th grader, placed 7th in the 1 mtr Diving. Kara Gorzek, a sophomore, placed 4th in the 200 Yard Free and later 7th in the 500 Yard Free. Lauren Maki, a sophmore, placed 5th in the 200 Yard IM and later 4th in the 100 Yard Free. Riley Bury, a freshman, placed 15th in the 100 Yard Fly and later 5th in the 100 Yard Breast. Savanna Crego, a 12th grader, placed 8th in the 1 mtr Diving.

Woodbury enters the season with several returning scorers across multiple disciplines. Addison Forshee, a 12th grader, placed 8th in the 500 Yard Free. Avery Forshee, a junior, placed 7th in the 200 Yard IM and later 10th in the 500 Yard Free. Iris Sorenson-Wagner, a sophomore, placed 5th in the 50 Yard Free and later 7th in the 100 Yard Breast. Kairi Brown, a junior, placed 9th in the 200 Yard Free and later 8th in the 100 Yard Free. Nina Faulkner, a sophomore, placed 2nd and 9th at state in the 1 mtr Diving.

White Bear Lake has key returners looking to build on strong section finishes. Charlotte McIntyre, a sophmore, placed 10th in the 200 Yard IM and later 4th in the 100 Yard Fly.

Roseville graduated many of their high scoring individuals swimmers and will rely on their rising seniors and juniors to fill the void.

Tartan senior Gabby Flemming returns as the leading point scorer from last season with a 16^th place finish in the 500 Free and 11^th place finish in a competitive 100 Back.

North St. Paul gets bumped up from section 4a and will look to a young group of athletes to find some footing in their new section.

Section Outlook

Visitation returns one of the most complete squads in the section. Junior Reeve Wolf placed 6th in the 200 Free and 2nd in the 500 Free (15th at state). Sophomore Maddie Mullen placed 7th in the 200 Free and 3rd in the 100 Butterfly (10th at state). Junior Merry Miller was a star in both the 200 IM (2nd/7th State) and 100 Breast (1st/3rd State). Junior Anna Cierzan added a 5th in the 200 IM and 3rd in the 100 Back (5th at state), while sophomore Ava Decker placed 12th in the IM and 4th in the Breaststroke. Senior Mollee Ditzler placed 6th in the 200 IM and 4th in the 100 Butterfly (15th at state). Sophomore Madalyn Hornung was 16th in the 50 Free and 5th in the 500 Free. Junior Olivia Schletz contributed with 9th in the 100 Free and 8th in the 100 Back. Sophomore Maribel Plessner was 5th in diving, with sophomore Sama Johnson placing 7th. Senior Lauren Kahley added a 3rd-place dive finish.

Mahtomedi boasts a deep returning roster. Junior Abigail Wright leads the way after finishing 2nd in the 200 Freestyle and 1st in the 100 Free, earning 3rd and 4th at state, respectively. Junior Delaney Dumermuth showed sprint strength with 4th in both the 50 and 100 Free, also placing 16th at state in the 50. Freshman Adalyn Miller impressed with a 7th-place finish in the 50 Free and 5th in the 100 Free. Eighth grader Aria Armstrong finished 8th in the 200 IM and 4th in the 500 Free. Sophomore Riley Parizek also scored in distance with 7th in the 500 Free and 10th in the 100 Back. On the boards, sophomore Shaela Murphy was dominant, winning the 1m Diving.

Mounds Park Academy St Croix returns a core of high-level scorers. Junior Josie MacDonald placed 3rd in the 200 Free and 4th in the 100 Backstroke, qualifying 16th at state. Junior Julia Anderson was a standout in both the 200 IM (3rd/13th State) and 100 Butterfly (2nd/5th State). Junior Isabella Muyres added a 5th in the 100 Fly and 2nd in the 100 Breaststroke, finishing 8th at state. Seniors Alexa Jones and Alaina Biebl made significant contributions—Biebl winning both the 200 IM (2nd at state) and 100 Back (1st at state), while Jones added 5th in the 100 Breast and 13th in the 50 Free.

Cretin-Derham Hall returns junior Cora Moore, who placed 5th in the 200 Freestyle and 3rd in the 500 Free. Senior Ellen Kovats posted a pair of strong swims with a 5th-place finish in the 50 Free and 6th in the 100 Free. Senior Josie Johnson added scoring with an 8th-place finish in the 50 Free and 9th in the 100 Backstroke. Senior Lauren O’Donnell contributed on the boards with a 4th-place finish in diving.

Hill-Murray brings back junior Talia Simons, who placed 7th in both the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke. Sophomore Alexis Roehrich was 11th in the 200 IM and improved to 6th in the 500 Free. Senior Lucy Metz posted a pair of 6th-place finishes in the 50 Free and 100 Breaststroke. Junior Wendy Ritter added to the diving total with an 8th-place finish.

Simley brings back sophomore Lauren Oswald and freshman Mia Doolittle. Oswald finished 10th in the 200 Free and 7th in the 100 Back, while Doolittle placed 11th in the 200 Free and 6th in the 100 Back.

St Paul Como Park features senior Aleia Lueck, who delivered standout performances in both sprints and backstroke—winning the 50 Free and placing 2nd in the 100 Back, finishing 4th and 6th at state, respectively.

Hastings drops in from 3AA and will surely make this section even more competitive this season.  They bring back a well-rounded and talented group of returners. Leading the way is sophomore Sofia Kovalenko, who placed 5th in the 200 Freestyle and added a strong 3rd-place finish in the 100 Butterfly. Sophomore Lila Salzman made her mark in the sprints, finishing 4th in the 50 Freestyle and 8th in the 100 Free. Freshman Emma Dehmlow impressed in both the 200 IM (4th) and 100 Backstroke (2nd). Fellow freshman Maddy Ritter also contributed in the IM, placing 8th, and added a 4th-place finish in the 100 Breaststroke. On the diving board, sophomore Chloe Aarness earned 2nd place at sections and a 7^th place finish at the state meet, while fellow sophomore Mari Hall scored 7th, giving Hastings solid depth in the event.
