The women’s 800 freestyle and men’s 1500 kicked off night one of the Indy Spring Cup. Over 30 swimmers from 3 Minnesota clubs are competing with some of the best Midwest professional, along and college swimmers representing Indiana, Ohio State, Louisville, Kentucky, Michigan, and others

The ladies from Minnesota kicked the meet off with a strong showing in the women’s 800 freestyle. Edina Swim Club’s Katie McCarthy finished a strong second in the A heat, a time that also held up for 2nd overall, dropping 1.12 seconds off her entry time to finish in 8:46.46. Avery Luedtke of the Aquajets finished in 9:01.35, a time drop of 6.75 seconds. Francis Muir, Aquajets, finished at 9:17.13, also improving her seed time by over five seconds. Isabel Ondracek of the Aquajets (9:34.20), Madeline Gau of Rochester (9:43.29), and Anja Nymo of Edina Swim Club (9:49.47) rounded out the Minnesota field in the event.
Men’s 1500 Free

The men’s 1500 freestyle had only one Minnesota participant, Gavin Potter, of the Rochester Swim Club finishing in 18:19.15.
Tomorrow is a big day at the Spring Cup with the women and men both competing in the 200 freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Butterfly, and 400 IM.
